Puppy arcade can't find sfs file

I've read pretty much every post on this in existence and nothing has helped.

I'm installing puppy arcade on a bootable usb from an iso image. I get to where it asks to boot in safe mode, only in ram, only command line, etc. Whatever I choose, it sits at "Booting the Kernel." Until it finally gives the "can't find *.sfs exiting to ramdisk console." Only on some of them does it say "/bin/sh can't access tty: job control turned off."

I'm running the HP Omen 1050ti so I mean I have good hardware, updated bios and such.

I've downloaded MANY different versions of puppy arcade, md5's are fine. Used like 3 different usb boot creators. I've tried the command line in the f2 on splash screen, every command mentioned in every forum. I've tried going back and forth between legacy booting, en/disabling secure boot, en/disabling usb boot, en/disabling virtualization. I've made sure the naming conventions match, even tried dashes instead of underscores and vise versa. There's no boot directory in the iso to find grub config. I've tried making sure the pmedia=usbflash. I've tried literally everything anyone has ever mentioned (and keeps mentioning) on every forum I can find. Any other puppy works just fine and arcade works in a VM.

Can anyone PLEASE suggest something that hasn't been 500 times? Unless I'm just f'kd cause of my bois. I'm also considering just using a VM but you can't (easily) add your gpu to the VM and I'm worried about it being slow and laggy.

Thanks, all!
