Manually remove menu listings

I use Menu Manager to remove menu listings but there are many that are still showing up in the Menu. :-(

Where is the file for that so I can manually delete those stubborn suckers. :-)

See man xdg-desktop-menu

EDIT: To hide a menu item, add "NoDisplay=true" in the respective desktop entry (under either /usr/share/applications or ~/.local/share/applications).

I restarted X, but this entry is still there.

Does it need a reboot ?

TBH I'm not sure, I've never tried it :/

Which desktop environment/window manager are you using?

I think some may not honour these settings.

EDIT: Just tried it in XFCE and I didn't even have to restart X

JWM is one of the few window managers I haven't used, but I think it either relies on a user-generated menu listing in ~/.jwmrc or uses the xdg-desktop-menu standard.

If your implementation is using the latter method you will have to trawl through the man page I mentioned above...

Also, see: http://joewing.net/projects/jwm/config.shtml

Are you using Puppy?

Yes you are using Puppy -- just read your sig.

Thanks, it used .jmmrc in which I just commented out those entries I did not want in the menu.

I just found out than geany's comment feature can distinguish between a script file and a .xml file.

Down right handy :-)
