Is it possible to install amarok on puppy linux?

I just installed puppy linux on a slow PII with 448MB of memory, and a 4 gig hard drive.

Does anyone know if it's possible to install amarok on puppy linux? I downloaded the latest and greatest distro I found and installed it on the PC.

The machine will be used for kids who will be doing mainly surfing the web and to rip their CD collection and transfer it to an iPod using amarok.

Can someone please tell me if it's possible to use an iPod with puppy linux?

I know it works with amarok on my PIII system but since the PII is so slow I decided to give puppy linux a try. I already tried arch linux but it's too much of a hassle to configure the GUI. I installed slackware but it gave me issues with the hardware, I reinstalled it but then couldnt log in because of LILO.

Right now I'm giving puppy linux a try and I really like it but I need to find out if it's possible to do what I'm building the system for.

I will appreciate any and all replies.

It might be worth looking at TEENpup, Puppy aimed at teenagers:

Amarok is a KDE application, which means that installing it requires quite a few KDE libs as well. On a PII I really don't see it working all that well to be honest.

If your sole desire is to use it to rip CDs and put them on iPods, there are other options (such as gtkpod) for other lightweight distros. As for Puppy, I'm not sure...

Edit: gtkpod exists for Puppy as well.

If you know of other alternatives to amarok, please let me know!

Yes, ripping CD's and putting them on an iPod will be one of the main functions of this slow PII. I will also use it to surf the web, meaning flash and java, I already installed firefox, I'm going to check later if it can play videos on youtube.

I will do a search on gtkpod to see if I can get it up and running on puppy.

If anyone has any experience using an iPod on puppy linux I would appreciate your input!

Songbird is available here <http://www.dotpups.de/dotpups/Multim...and-Gstreamer/>.

The page with installation instructions is here <http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=21449>.

John's forum is down just this second, so the link may not work for a few hours until he has the site back up.

Don't forget Listen. I believe it is considered the GTK "Amarok Clone".
