I really like the installer, the game sucks cause I can barely get through a game before it crashes, but the installer is nice. I am hoping to re-create this for programs that I write since they are usually front-ends to make things easier to use anyways, may as well make a front end for them

I am pretty sure I could easily re-create this in C++ but I want to learn a new language and that does seem like it would be smaller to implement in a makeself .run file.
My guess is tk/tcl....
