Ubunutu 10.04: Eclipse has no run options

I'm trying to compile and run a java application on Ubuntu 10.04. In the run drop down there are no run options in "run as". I have PDE installed but for some reason its still does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi zclinux.

Ubuntu 10.04 uses OpenJDK Java 6 by default. A neighbour of mine (whom I'd just turned on to Edubuntu) couldn't run the Java-based games on Pogo.com until he replaced OpenJDK Java 6 with sun-java6 via these instructions:

- quit Firefox if it's running

- go to System-->Administration-->Software Sources and make sure the Partner repository is checked under third-party software.

- in Terminal run sudo apt-get update (to update the lists of software available from the Ubuntu repositories)

- in Applications-->Ubuntu Software Center remove OpenJDK Java 6 Runtime (doing so will automatically remove its other two dependencies)

- in System-->Administration-->Synaptic Package Manager check mark and install sun-java6-plugin (doing so will automatically check mark and install its required dependencies)

- reboot
