Question Truncating trailing characters

Let's say I want to get rid of the trailing digits in the following list:

set rob_list robert1 robert2 robert3

so the end result is:

robert
robert
robert

What is the best way to do this with Tcl/Tk ( string trimright? )

Please advise.
