Test tool of CPU in linux.... do any one has any idea..

hi all,
I want to write a programe that will perform some tests on CPU and memory. ie i want write a CPU and memory test tool in Linux Platform. Does any body has any idea how to write such code.

OR

where can i get some open source code for such tools in net.........

I used the program nbench for that. Search at freshmeat.net and you will find it. Take a look at the source code to get some ideas about it. Hope that will help.
