Summer Of Code (dependencies)

Hello there,

I want to take part in the forthcoming SoC 2008. But, I do not know what prior knowledge of programming and linux fundamentals should I grasp first. For example, how can I develop my idea while I do not know C++ or Python ?
I only understand some basic things but I've never tried Qt or Mono.

I don't think there is any requirement for the language, but your project must be accepted and mentored.

Well, how am I supposed to support my project if I do not have the tools (programming language) ?
I mean that I know some basic skills about C++ . I am not Guru of C++.

Is this possible ?

If I am not mistaken, the "summer of code" project is about producing results. I assume that getting a project accepted involves a minimum of two things:
1. The end product is going to be useful.
2. You show them that you know how to produce the product. I would assume that this would include information on what languages you know.

Have you looked at the actual requirements, procedure for applying (proposing), etc.? Look also at some past projects.
