Making a window full screen from a c++ or python and qt environment?

Here's what I want to do. I want to create a QT dialog in QT designer, create a python or c++ application, and then make that dialog fullscreen.

Assuming I have the creation and showing parts done, how would I go about doing this? I assume that I would set the _NET_WM_STATE property to FULLSCREEN? or is there a better/easier way?
