redirect sql result to a file

whenever I direct the result of a select to a file, mysql inserts \ at the end of a line. In mysql what is the command to redirect to a file so the file doesn't contain the extra backslashes?

Moin,

how do you call mysql? From command line or do you use it interactively? If you call it like this "mysql ... -e sql-command" - did you try the --batch option?
