Problems with KDevelop

I have been writting C++ code for a few years now in school and have always used VS as it is pretty much the standard tool for the job. Recently though I bough an older laptop to play around with Linux on and learn to use it. I installed Slackware with all of the possible packaes possible. I have been playing around with writting a simple Hello World consoule application just to get started.

So far I have been able to write the hello.cpp file in a text editor and compile and make the executable through the command line. However if I try and write the same simple two line application using KDevelop I just can't get it to work. I open KDevelop and make a new project, a C++ Simple Hello World app. I then write in the same two line of code, and click on build. A message pops up saying that a makefile and configuration file are not available, etc. I click on yes to allow Automake to run. I see a slew of messages and warning pass through the screen and it stops. If I then click on the execute button I get the same message and I never get an executable file, no matter what I do.

What am I doing wrong? I would greatly appreciate any help. I know that when I do the same in MS VS as long as I have no syntax errors I will get an .exe somewhere in one of the subfolders it creates. It will also pop up a consoule and run the application. Any differences that I am missing in KDevelop?

Thanks again,
Erik

Silly thing requires you to add the files under the right tab Automake.

I just started using it too, and I haven't quite figured out if it's a bug or just stupid.
