I have been working with an ISA card for my project so far and now I am given a PCI card. I don't know much abou PCI programming. ( Detecting the io base, irq etc. ). I found a few prototypes in /usr/include/linux/pci.h (RH7.2). But I could not find any of corresponding functions. Can any one tell me if these are to be implemented by driver writer and if so can some one suggest some example for start learning pci programming?. Also can someone tell me if it is possible to read a file on disk from a driver program?

Yes, you can see code of the functions. Make sure you have the shole kernel source installed, not only headers. Then enter drivers/pci directory of the kernel source and you can browce the *.c files.
