parsing what? there are as far as i know, no functions specifically designed for parsing in either the c or c++ standard libraries. theres strtok but thats merely a string tokenizer, nothing more. i would look into flex/bison if you want a parser. if thats not good enough then hang around the comp.compilers newsgroup and ask a few questions.

Just use bison or one of its equivalents.
