network/sys admin programming


as a network/system admin should you learn programming languages like c++?

is it required?
useful?

I think a sys admin should know every thing.. )
just kidding im' not sure about c++ but it would
be very useful for a sysadmin to learn about scripting languages
python, perl, etc.. these are very powerful tools generally used
by sysadmins.
