Need to interact with VB / COM from Perl

Hello, I need help getting pointed in the right direction. I need to take information displayed in a Visual Basic application and transferring it into another app such as notepad or a web browser. I was thinking I might possibly be able to do this from perl (other suggestions?). Can anyone please point me to a tutorial that will indicate what perl modules I need and how to use them? thanks for any help or suggestions,
jpbarto
