Need idea for writing scripts that show me who is move the mouse...


Hi

i need idea how to write script that show me when someone move the mouse
i`m using REDHAT

i try to find file that show X,Y of mouse position and didnt found

I guess to find out who moved the mouse you'll need a camera
and some pretty good face-recognition software, not a script.

Start by looking at cat /dev/mouse or ls /dev/input.

PS "X" and "Y" aren't functions of the mouse. They're maintained by X internally based on where it starts the pointer and the offsets it reads from the mouse device. You'll need to look at some X docs to get that part.

Hi

i try to read those file and they have not permission
also they didnt have current time of writing

i`m using linux at servers and not at my own PC

So the admin may have disallowed unprivileged raw access to those device nodes. Perhaps you can access the same information indirectly (e.g., if there is a running X server or other software you have permission to access you may indirectly obtain the information). Otherwise, you’ll have to talk to your admin and ask if he will grant you permission to use the device nodes.
