need help about signal

hi all,
i have a C code that uses signal functions included from

#include <signal.h>

i want to be familiar with these functions and understand what do they do exactly.

actually i dont even know what is signal?

i m asking if there is a good document that explain what is the signal and what are its APIs?

You may want to read the whole thing - it's only about 100 pages.

i have begin learning what is signal and what r its functions, so
i have a small question:

does the signal disposition means the signal action i.e
signal disposition=signal action?
or what?
