NCurses ACS Variables

I've been trying to design an application interface with the Ncurses and using the ACS variables.

But none of the ACS characters are being displayed. Instead only the default characters are being displayed like + - | < etc.

I am using the Red Hat Enterprise Server 3.0 as the platform.

Thank You.

Basu
