memory unification between 2 linux systems

dear friends,
i have been told to write a protocol to show memory unification between 2 linux systems. i am using 2.6.11 kernel in 2 systems. it comes as default with fedora core 4.

first of all, i am not able to understand what is the simplest definition of "memory unification".
what is the simplest definition of "memory unification"?

also, the unification need not be necessarily of the physical address space. even if i can show the memory unification of the virtual address spaces of both the systems, then my job is over.
i have been told to use a tool names memprof. but i ould not understand it.
can you suggest me any other means of solving this problem?
can you help you, please.
thank you.
