I'm just getting into java... and I can't seem to figure out how to run my program with an Icon from my desktop... What is the easiest way to do this...

in windows you can make a .bat file with the commands to execute the file in the same directory (ie 'java myProg')

in linux it would depend on the features your desktop environment offers, i imagine.
in KDE you could create an icon on the desktop, and specify the command to run, and that it should run in a terminal.

If you are using Eclipse, look for an export option. On Windows there is an option to export to an .exe (I think) and on Mac, there is an option to export to an .app application bundle. Maybe there is a similar option on the Linux version? I would check not but I'm writing from my Mac.

If nothing else, you should be able to export your project as an executable jar. Depending on how your desktop manager is setup, it might be "double clickable."
