Makefile question

I need to compile a Java software with a large number of files distributed in several subdirectories under the base directory. Since there are so many .java files, I would want to use wildcards rather than enter each file name.

I've searched a lot, but couldn't find anything. It seems that I can use $(wildcard *.java) for the files in the current directory, but that still leaves all the subdirectories.

Any clues?

Thanks

Why not considering using "ant" to do this job ?

I did consider ant, but unfortuntately I need to use Makefile specifically for this.

It's not clear why you need to use a Makefile, but make can call ant anyway for that particular task.
