Make install question

I have set vortex library in place by make install.
It was configured to be using armbe-linux. Now I also want to copy to compile to the PC. If I make install again for this version, would the operation mess up 2 different sets of binaries and include files?
So the question is what is the safer way of seperating two different sets of lib and include files?

I should have mentioned my situation here

#include <vortex.h> <--- in my code

//////////////
vortex.h <---- by third party vendor
#include <glib.h>

#include <glib.h>
#include <xmllib/xmlmemory.h>
These 2 files in vortex.h caused the error

Do I need to reinstall glib + libxml? I think they come with the OS CD!

Let me keep this thread alive... I still haven't solved it yet
Why I couldn't compile the program? I have ./configure , make, make install of xmllib2 and glib2...
