I want to implement a simple mail checker, which would check periodically for new mail and sound a beep, if new mail is there. It could be run from procmail. I am running Debian stretch, my mailbox is a local mh box. I want to monitor only one particular mailbox. Could you please help me with this? All other tools for mail checking failed (gnubiff, coolmail etc.).

The thing is, that I don't know, how to search for new mails in a mh-type mailbox. With Maildir it is easier, because there is a "new" folder. I don't know how to start.
I am running Debian Stretch with the following e-mail setup: getmail for fetching, msmtp for sending, procmail for filtering. All mail is downloaded to local mh boxes.
