That being said, many languages have iterators and lambdas. If you thrive on that stuff, you can use python. Eric Raymond, one of the Lords of Perl, has this to say on python:

And yet, C, C++, PHP, they all do good things for me.

Lisp looks mighty cryptic. Cryptic is something I can do without, and I don't care how many kitchen sinks it comes with. Using esoteric features to do "magic" too often translates as cryptic, obfuscated and impossible to comprehend or maintain code.

LISP is great, so is perl, so is C.

different tools for different jobs.

lisp is awkward for boring real world stuff like work (the type I get anyway)

but there is no doubt that for pure harnessing of brain power it's hard to beat.

everyone should have a go at a very high level non-procedural language like LISP or maybe haskell or similar. it teaches you to think differently and it's fun.
