linux socket TCP control


Hi,
In TCP protocol, it send the data to server and receive acknowledgement. if failed receive acknowledgement, then it will send again same data. it will try this for certain time. how can i control in socket created in linux? not seen any option in setsockopt function. is there any function exist to control this?

There might be some files for this in /proc, but basically you should leave it alone, it is the kernel's job and responsibility to send and resend data.

However, if you really want to know how TCP/UDP/IP works, try the TCP/IP Illustrated books by W. Richard Stevens here http://www.kohala.com/start/.
