Red face Kernel panic after compilation---System not booting

Hello folks,
I'm running FC5 on 2.6.17.1 kernel. My laptop is having scsi combo drive. Unfortunately I hadn't compiled the scsi modules perviously with the kernel. So I compiled the same kernel with scsi support included. The compilation went fine and I finally did run the " make install" and I hope it made changes to the /boot/ too.

But, after I restarted the computer, something strange is occuring... The screen shows

///

Uncompressing Linux..... Ok, booting the kernel

[42949379.600000] wistron_btns: system unknown
Red Hat nash version 5.0.32 starting

mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'

setuproot: moving /dev failed. No such file or directory
setuproot: error mounting /proc failed. No such file or directory

setuproot: error mounting /sys failed. No such file or directory

[42949381.090000]kernel panic. Not syncing..Attempted to kill init!

////

I ve included all the previously selected modules...
What could be wrong. I'm not even able to boot my system. I can't even enter the sigle user mode. hen also same problems are occuring

Please help me out!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx in advance
