kernel logging

Hello everyone,

First i would like to apologize because I may be in the wrong section.

I would just like to ask why my red hat cannot log a segmentation fault in any of the log files located in /var/log. I purposely tried executing a C++ program that segfaults but nothing was logged.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe this isn't helpful, because I really have no idea, but why do you expect the kernel to log information about your segfaulting program?

We have this project and the client says our system segfaults while if we run it in out units, it doesn't log anything . We're trying to replicate what our client saw to debug our codes.

I think you can print out a stack trace when your program has a problem, but it's not the kernel's job. You need to throw some debugging output in your code and write to your own log file or stdout/stderr.
