HTML: How do I insert empty spaces?

Hi,

The 'code' in HTML doesn't work the same way as UBB??

I want to enter spaces into my HTML. How do I do it?

Please do not suggest tables. I am so frustrated over getting it to work the way I want it to work.

while <pre> </pre> is probably better in this situation, another way of putting in individual spaces is to type

I think your &nbsp; got translated into a space. Hopefully mine works so it is visible.
