how to mute the mic by ioctl function


In ANSI C , how can i turn the mic to mute. I need to turn the mic to mute, that the voice will not be hear in earphone when i recording from mic. I need to do it in my application, so i can not turn mic to mute by any toolkit. Likely ioctl function or any other function.

ps: OS:RedHat 9
soundcard chip: CMI8738
