Not quite so. I have hade some problems to make some NASA/JPL code working on Solaris x86 boxes and that is not working because of the java3D part that is not running well with the combination Java+openGL+solaris_x86.

I have talked about this to some sun people at there high preformace and technical computing department that build some java3D parts to be used at this NASA/JPL code and they could not provide a complete working solution. So that states that java is not 100% portable buth however it is 99.9999999999999999999 etc % portable.
