Exclamation How do I setup PHP with XML extension?

I'm having a difficult time with a simple task (for you guys). PHP is installed on my Centos-powered machine, and works fine. What I need is XSLT support in PHP, for which as I understand, I need to compile the source code for the XSL extension, using --with-xsl on the configure line. I've never compiled source code before (except some Java applets in college years ago), and I'm not sure how to go about it--Do I first have to download files, from where, and what next? Your expertise is coveted.

Google can point you to sources for all of this, PHP, XML, and Apache. And from the CentOS forums, it even tells you the package name to install, and the command. As root, type in "yum install php-xml" and press enter. Restart Apache.

Want to install PHP from source? Download it from their website (again, a quick search will find it)
http://be.php.net/downloads.php

...and read the instructions. Every source code package for every program is different, that's why they all come with instructions.

Awesome. Thanks TBone. This works perfect now. Although how do you know where to look at the Centos Forums, et al? I tried numerous searches, and nothing I tried brought up that "php-xml," is what I need to install.

Keying in things like "php xsl" bring it up. On Google, how about "centos php xsl"? Putting in the keywords into Google and pressing ENTER would bring up lots, and lead you to more.

"Bringing up lots" isn't a problem for me. It's singling out what I need specifically that's often the issue. That's why these forums are so necessary. People with a lot of experience have the information at their fingertips, and the willingness of the Linux community to help newcomers discover their answers shouldn't be taken for granted. Thanks for your help.

The information is only at our fingertips, because we took the time to READ the lots of information, and figure out what's needed.
