How do I properly do overlapping windows in NCURSES

I'm trying to make an ncurses GUI but an having extreme troubles with overlapping windows. Trails are being left behind when i move/resize windows. Can anyone outline/pseudo code proper window overlapping for me? I've tried for 8 hours reading the not so helpful TLDP NCURSES tutorial, i've tried irc.freenode.net, i've tried everything over the past two days.
