how can i find man page of kernel functions?

My distribution is Fedora 12. When I want to get the infos of kernel functions such as printk, i type man printk, failed.

I look up some articles and learn that in some distributions the kernel functions is in section 9 of man page.

Then i type man 9 printk also no reply.

How can i get man pages of kernel functions ??

Plz help me!!!

I honestly don't know if there is - or ever was - a "man 9" for kernel documentation.

However, the "real" documentation (frankly, the only documentation I'd trust to be completely up-to-date) is under "Documentation", in any kernel source tree.

Here are a couple of links:

http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/

http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation

What I always like to do is:
Quote:
1. Install the Gnu package "id-utils"

2. Download and configure one or more kernel source trees

3. run "mkid" at the root of each
The id-utils command "gid" let's me do a Google-like search whenever I what, on whatever I want. For example:
Quote:
gid printk
Here's a link:
http://www.gnu.org/software/idutils/

'Hope that helps .. PSM
