GNU Library Archives

I have a couple of 200+ library archives (libXXX.a) from MinGW and wxWidgets that I want to extract contents lists into corresponding text files, so that I can perform simple text seachers for the libraries corresponding to unresolved symbols in my builds.

The archive print command

ar -p libXXX.a

prints out loads of binary crap along with the symbol text. Is there any utility that can extract clean text.

Cheers
