G++/Cygwin problems - missing files

There's not a cygwin forum, and since this is g++/gcc related, I figured this is the best place to post it.

I've got a windows 7 box and a cygwin installation (using the cygwin 32-bit setup.exe installer)

I have a project that is requiring two files that I don't have in my cygwin:
  • /usr/bin/g++-4.exe
  • /etc/alternatives/g++

I have the following installed:
  • gcc-g++ (4.8.2-1)
  • gcc-core (4.8.2-1)
  • gcc-java (4.8.2-1)
  • libgcc1 (4.8.2-1)
  • mingw-gcc-g++ (4.7.3-1)
  • mingw-gcc-core (4.7.3-1)
  • mingw64-i686-gcc (4.7.3-1)
  • mingw64-i686-gcc-core (4.7.3-1)
  • mingw64-i686-gcc-g++ (4.7.3-1)

What am I missing?

The whole reason for this, is that I need the -b option (lowercase) for g++, which is not in the regular g++/gcc installation.

Charles.

I do not really understand how /usr/bin/g++-4.exe and/or /etc/alternatives/g++ related to the option -b. What is this -b good for ?

-b is for cross compiling

Quote:
-b machine
The argument machine specifies the target machine for compilation.

The value to use for machine is the same as was specified as the
machine type when configuring GCC as a cross-compiler. For
example, if a cross-compiler was configured with configure arm-elf,
meaning to compile for an arm processor with elf binaries, then you
would specify -b arm-elf to run that cross compiler. Because there
are other options beginning with -b, the configuration must contain
a hyphen, or -b alone should be one argument followed by the
configuration in the next argument.
