f77 on RH9 vs. Unix

I wonder if anyone knows the difference between the fortran compiler f77 on Redhat9 and the f77 compiler on SunOS Unix. I've been trying to run code at work, but the server is ridiculously slow. however, when I attempt to run the code on my p4 at home, running RH9, I get different values, and this makes a huge difference!!! Anyone know the subleties? Anyone know of a free linux fortran compiler that isn't a piece of poop? A co-worker recommended the Portland Groups fortran compiler, but it's 500$ !!!

For one thing, physical differences in the cpus can cause differences. Are the differences on to order of round-off errors or are the results totally different?

You can download the Intel F77/90 linux compiler for free for personal use (after registering) but sounds like what you want to do would not qualify as personal use.

You might want to look at the Absoft products. They have F77/90/95 compilers for Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX.

You may also be able to download one or more of the vendors manuals - they usually have some information about porting from various systems.
