default parser in ubuntu


Hi to all,


I ma using ubuntu Vmware in windows XP profession


I hav written a parsing program in C, but I want to know is there any default xml parser in ubuntu.

when i searched parser lib i found

libxml2.so.2.6.32 in usr/lib directory.

Can i use this in my program to parse. If so what headers I have to include in my program.

And a weak back I downloaded libxml2 and installed successfully. But when i run my code I got following error.
Code:
usr/ bin /ld : cannot find -lxml2
Pls reply for all questions.

when i read the home pAge of http://www.xmlsoft.org/ I read followin sentence
