Cool database programming from linux

helo frnds,

I wanna make an application tht can interact with ms sql database.

I am using rhel5 and doing program in C (gcc).

So I have downloaded the libiodbc rpm and installed it on my system.

So the problem I havnt any good tutorial on libiodbc, which can explain libiodbc functionalities, and I can make a program in C for database operations.

If any one finds good tutorial on libiodbc then plz replay me.

thnx in advance.

You may want to start with the C API section of the MySQL manual; see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/c.html (you don't need ODBC to embed SQL in a C program).

This is where Google is your friend; querying "sql tutorial" turns up 577,000+ hits.

In addition, http://dev.mysql.com/books/mysqlpress/index.html shows useful publications.

MSSQL are to generic SQL as J++ is to Java - Microsoft's *inferior* take on a successful thing.

My work uses an MSSQL database - and while I've never had to have to interact with the database, I've been informed that it's quite a pain in the butt. Our software engineer grumbles about it a little - (not (equalp 'SQL 'MSSQL)).

The FreeTDS project provides libraries specifically for interfacing with MS SQL Server, which may be better than the generic ODBC stuff:
