Compliling gnome stuff

Hello,
Doing a project for university.....don't have much idea what I'm doing, but slowly getting there!
Copied a basic (Not in BASIC it's in c++ ) program from "Linux Programming" and I'm attempting to compile it. I'm doing all this in Redhat running Gnome. All the x windows and gnome development stuff is installed. When i try and compile it says it cannot find file gnome.h which i have included at the top of the program. Anyone know why it cannot find the file. I KNOW it is there, i can physically see it!
I get the impression I'm going to have to tell something that it's there! Simple one syllable words when giving an explanation would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
Alex

Hi,

which is the location of your file gnome.h ?, try

locate gnome.h

When you use gcc to compile, it searches header files (such as gnome.h) in default directory (i think /usr/include or something similar)

If gnome.h is not located at default directory you can use -I option of gcc to tell it where is the header file to include; read this :

http://www.network-theory.co.uk/docs...cintro_21.html

i think may be useful for you.

If this doesn't work, post the entire code of your program, it may help me and others to understand the problem.
