Question Can't issue "qmake" in SUSE 10

I am using OpenSUSE 10.
and developing some thing in Qt. But the problem is the path to qmake is missing from the default path of the terminal.

How to change the default PATH location parmanently??

Using KDE as window manager.

Edit /etc/profile and add something like
export PATH=/opt/something/bin:$PATH
at the end of it. Of course, use the correct path.
