let me just second the 'Thinking in C++' book...it's pretty good
and also the codewarriorU lessons...they present the material in an easy to understand manner, and have a forum where you can post questions relating to the lessons ..or just questions in general.. the only problem i have noticed with that is, that some of the lesson tests are wrong , but they're supposed to be fixing them in the future.. other than that , codewarriorU is still a good starting place i think.
