i am new to both linux and programming of any kind. i am trying to create a
shell script that will reduce fractions. i have already created scripts
that will add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and have integrated
those with the case command to create a menu. but now i am having trouble
trying to figure out an algorithm to integrate into those scripts that will
reduce the fractions. if anyone can offer advice or help on this issue
it'd be greatly appreciated.
This sounds an awful lot like homework, if it is please be aware that LQ.org will not help you with homework or other educational tasks set for you to learn from.

i have set out to learn linux and shell scripting on my own. i am not enrolled in any courses on the subject. if this could be considered homework then it is self-assigned homework. i bought a book and i am now trying to apply the concepts that i've read about. i am stumped on this one so i would be grateful if someone could at least point me in the right direction.
