I want to use Ide for coding . It fails to compile. actually two different Ide failed to compile code .Then I noticed that the error occured in autogen.sh.
I am using ubuntu 9.04. I how to install software but don't know which package to install. I was wondering that is there any difference in glib and glibc . Secondly I thought that glib is some very essential library and it might be already present.

Yes, otherwise they'd be the same thing. If you want to install the package, the error is quite clear. Try typing in "apt-get install glib".

If it was present, you wouldn't get the error saying it's NOT. However, it may be present, but the wrong version. You don't say which IDE's you're trying to compile, or why you don't install them from packages, so it's hard to say.
even that failed
here is the list of options Please suggest one that you tink would help

"libglib2.0-0" is the basic one you need, but I'll bet money you have it installed already as it is very basic. You probably are needing the libglib2.0-dev package.
