Artificial Neural Networks

Hi all,
I have been reading "Introduction to Artificial Neural Systems" by Jacek M Zurada, and have covered some basic theory behind ANN's, and would like to attempt to implement a basic ANN using the Hebbian Learning Algorithm.

However, I am not entirely sure what to apply the network to, nor how to apply the network to a problem.

Any insight would be grand!

Regards,
Jack Hunt

Would this library help?
My own experience in trying to learn about AANs is that there is plenty of theory out there but most practical implementation is hidden behind propriety software!

Ah thanks, I shall have a play with this later. Yeah, it is ok learning theory. I want to do ANN's for a uni project nezt year, but am having a tough time visualising an implementation.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I was wondering if anybody was familiar with this book? If so, actually how relevant is it today? As it is quite an old book.
