Question Adding a entry in the right click menu - java opensuse

Ok, first is it possible to take a program I wrote and make it to be a entry in the right menu of a file browser program.

Also, can this happen if the program is developed in Java?

OpenSuSE 11.4
Kde 4
Dolphin(file browser)

OK, but I still have no clue what you want.

Do you want to make your program the default application for a cetain file format, and for the "Open" item in the menu to use it?

Or do you mean something else?

Ok, here we go..

I'm learning Java so I'm going to write a program with gui to compare MD5sums. I would like to be able to right-click a file and select my app out of the right-click menu. (Could be open with section or anywhere on the menu.)

Once you click my app it will open my app up with the file/location of the file I right-clicked on, then you could copy and paste the checksum to compare in the window. Would compute and compare.

Basically the functionality of the md5Digest for windows, if your familiar with it.

Unlike Windows Explorer in Windows, there is no single "Linux GUI file manager".

Which one are you using?

I would think the program would have to take a argument for the file that was right clicked.

As far as the the right click menu addition goes, that would be the installers job

MTK385, I'm using KDE Dolphin, thanks for the replies.

Thanks, for the link crts, just knowing that Dolphin is customizable like that is good to know. Learning Linux never ceases to amaze me.
