a good ORM for php?

Hi!

I'm looking for a good (and simple) ORM layer for php. I'd like to find one that resembles java jpa as much as possible. The ones I've seen (some months ago) require relations to be specified in more than one file or working with xml (if my memory is not fooling me).

What would you recommend? Thanks in advance
