'top' command source code...


Where can I find the top command source code... I got it from "http://procps.sourceforge.net/index.html" but it seems for Solaris. where can I get the source code for top commend running on Linux????

Linux distros have package managers, and the package managers also tell you the name of source package. I.e. query in your package manager 'top'.

The source code should be independent from the platform. Indeed, in the README inside the procps' tarball you can see:

COMPATIBILITY

    This code is intended for use with Linux 2.2.xx, 2.4.xx,
    2.6.xx, and hopefully all future kernels. You should be
    running a system with libc 6, but libc 5 might work too.

Commands : 1) 'which top' > /usr/bin/top
2) 'dpkg -S /usr/bin/top'
> > procps

The source code, procps, for Ubuntu .. and also for everything else
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/procps
[ dapper ] [ hardy ] [ intrepid ] [ jaunty ] [ karmic ]

Choose a version and > > "Links for procps"

Example, Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic :
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/poo....8.orig.tar.gz
[procps_3.2.8.orig.tar.gz]
