Nvidia Twinview Mepis 6.0

This one seems to be too tough even for Technalign-

I have two computers running Mepis Frontier (6.0) Both were working fine, intil I recently did some updates out of synaptic. When I rebooted, I lost my twinview and now all I get is a cloned monitor, which is virtually useless.

I would REALLY appreciate any help with this. I don't even mind rewarding whomever fixes it for me!

Also, I should mention that I have downloaded the Nvidia GLX driver and done the rather long configuration. When I do that, I get a black screen. I had to reload Xconfig from the disc in order to boot...
