Hi, I've just moved from Mepis 6.0 to 6.5.
Once I had figured out the legacy Nvidia driver
for my old geforce4 ti4200 card the system initially
booted to a 1280x1024 resolution. Since I've had this
computer I've had 1024x786 which I was happy with.
From System Configuration/Peripherals/Display I can
change the res back to 1024x768, but on reboot or just
restarting the session it keeps returning to 1280x1024.
Did you tried to look into the x server config file? Setting parameters there, will be more reliable than setting things in GUIs.
The other thing is, that Mepis 7.0 will come out in a few weeks, so if it still doesn't wanna work, leave it there.

I removed the 1280 resolution from the xorg.conf
That worked great!
Thanks

Yes, that always work. Rumors say, that the next major version of X.org will have a config GUI, so maybe we will need to hack xorg.conf more rarely than nowdays. We'll see.
