Eeek! Mepis can't start the X server!

Just turned on my PC to find that "X is not executable" and that I can only use Mepis in terminal mode... how do I fix this?

where did you get this cd and what version is it? that's a major error on the cd.

I've been using that installation for 3 months. It must have happened during the last update. Any suggestions?

There are a number of ways to lose X recently...

Login as root at your new commandline only mepis and apt-get install xserver-xorg
keep repeating it by hitting up arrow if for any reason it refuses to go get it for you...

I took me several trys...then reboot and whoom a new X up and running...
